Tips For Submitting 360 Panoramas

Recommended Photo Resolution:

  • 4K: 4096 × 2048 pixels.
  • 6K: 6144 × 3072 pixels.
  • 8K: 8192 × 4096 pixels.
  • 10K: 10240 × 5120 pixels.
  • 12K: 12288 × 6144 pixels.
  • 16K: 16384 × 8192 pixels.
  • Aim for at least 8K if possible. Ideal ratio is 2:1 (width is 2x height).

Preferred File Formats:

  • JPG (.jpg): Best for photos. Small files, fast loading. Use high quality settings.
  • WEBP (.webp): Often smaller than JPG at similar quality. Great for web delivery.
  • PNG (.png): Option for "lossless photos." Large files will often fail on mobile.
  • JPG or WEPB are prefferred.

Other Tips:

  • Use a tripod and keep the camera level to reduce warped horizons.
  • Use a panoramic head nodal point setup to reduce parallax, especially indoors.
  • Try to have lots of light when taking pictures and lower ISO.
  • Avoid visible seams, and keep the horizon level.
  • Don’t over-compress or it will create blockiness in skies and smearing in texture.
  • Apply light sharpening after resizing, only on final export.
  • Export in sRGB for the web.
